Former Spandau Prisoner and ex-Minister of Armaments and Production for Nazi Germany, Albert Speer, dies while on a visit to London, England. After being convicted by War Crimes Tribunal in Nuremberg, Speer is released from Spandau Prison in 1966 after serving his entire 20-year sentence as his punishment for his conviction.   Save Save

Four GDR citizens escape through the Spree River near the Berlin Reichstag, watched by numerous West Berliners. The crew of the patrol boat that pursues them does not make use of their firearms; all the escapees reach the Western part of the city uninjured. Save
